Last week the Hospitality Committee at my school decided we needed to do something for our colleagues at the other elementary school in the district. They had a student pass away, she was something of a celebrity so there was some media attention, and it is just so hard when a child dies anyway...We made up survival kits, just to brighten their day. Inside were Kisses and Hugs and Lifesavers, a crayon and some paper clips (to hold it all together, kind of thing).
We used Circle Circus to decorate the poem and the toppers, cut with the Top Note die and decorated with the scallop circle punch and ribbon- I LOVE this set because it is sooo versitile! The cardstock came from my scrap pile (except the Whisper White, which I used to print the poem on), and I found it so rewarding to say to my co-workers "I know what we can do" and it didn't have to cost a lot of money, it was a group effort putting them together so there was community building on our part as well....so great!
I waited to post about this til this week because of the media attention, I wanted to be able to s hare the idea with my blog readers so when you have an occasion to try to lift someone's spirits you have this resource, but didn't want to capitalize on the grief experienced by so many in the district. Know what I mean?
Anyway, the poem is one you can find online, if you want it email me at stampwithtara@yahoo.com.
I am so excited when I get an extra hour of sleep, especially when next weekend is the Saco (in Wells)Scrappin and Stampin Getaway!

Scrapbooking in Maine can mean so many different things, last weekend for me it meant a class with a wonderful group of people, this Friday night it means helping out Susan G. Komen fund....what a great job I have!!!
I was approached by Maine-Kids-Kin to do a class for their grandfamilies group~grandparents raising their grandchildren. There were 9 in attendance, ranging in ages from 4 to over 16 let's say (lol!). I used the Simply Scrappin' Kits, ribbon, and page protectors to help them create 10 page booklets using the same scrapmap for the ScrapPINK class this Friday - cool!
Here are a couple young ladies goin' at it with the punches :)
workin with their grandmother...
and one of the finished products...
Hi Tara,
Just wanted to thank you again for all your help on Saturday. I know everyone had an excellent time. We really appreciated being able to take advantage of your expertise – both as a scrapbooker and as a teacher! As Nancy and I were planning this event, our hope was to provide a few of our clients with some much-needed quality family time. Thanks to all your great help, we were able to accomplish that goal.
Awww...shucks! I am so fortunate to be able to do these kind of events, share what I love and help others enjoy their families, preserve memories for family members to come!
NEXT SCRAPBOOKING CLASS IS TUESDAY AT 7PM - Love to have you join us! Call 207-590-8631 for more info!
Starting next week I am going to offer a regular feature on my blog - Two for Tuesday! I will show a project I either have shared before or one I found on one of my surfing expeditions, and then the two for will be a re-do with the same basic layout but either new occasion or color scheme.
Your assigment, should you take it on, is to post a comment to the blog with an idea you'd like to see done two-for! I have my own ideas, but this blog is as much for my readers as it is for me!
Tomorrow is the 5th week in the 12 Weeks of Christmas Campaign...The feedback from my customers has been great - what are you waiting for? Sign up in the box at the top right hand side of the blog and start receiving yours, too!
