This pearl fell from my lips last night (any BLS Grads reading this? Mrs. Kelley quote, here!) during my Crazy 4 Cupcakes class. Kim, Donna, Erin, Nikki and Kathy were all here and we were discussing the Demonstrator Opportunity.
Yes, I started as a customer and a hobby demonstrator, one who wanted to save money on her stamping supplies. However that ended at my first workshop where 6 people booked workshops and one went on to become my first downline.
For more information on how to start to write your story as a Stampin Up Demonstrator, email stampwithtara@yahoo.com!
I do have a sample to show you today, it is a card I made for my husband's friend who is graduating today - congratulations Roland!
For this card I used the new Circle Scissors Plus to cut the Designer Series Paper, Kiwi Kiss and Baha Breeze Cardstock. (The DSP is retired now, but you can still order Designer Series Paper Samplers!) I used the Congratulations stamp set from the Sale A Bration brochure, FREE with a purchase of $50 or more, Pacific Point ink, a retired Hostess-Only stamp set and the 1 3/8 inch circle punch. I then rounded the corner on the greeting to continue on with the circular theme.
This is a 5 minute card, no kidding!
CONGRATULATIONS ELLEN! She won the blog candy for her post about the 40 days of Lent - I honestly didn't know we didn't count Sundays! I think my mother didn't tell me that part to keep me in line when I was younger - lol!
I have lots more to do today, registration is ending for the Saco Scrapping and Stamping Getaway - don't miss out!
I have been asked this many times, and to be honest with you SINCE THE BEGINNING the answer has been the same - the internet!
First, I check out Stampin Up's demonstrator website, where I found this lovely scrapbook page - ingredients are at the bottom of this post. So perfect because tonight is the Raspberry Tart Class!
Stampin Up! has a feature called the Workshop Wizard, which lays out projects and supplies to help me use my time more wisely, calling customers or spending time with my family. It is a fabulous resource, to find out more about it, call me at 207-282-6280 to set up an appointment!
If not, here is another trivia question for you~ Lent is described as the 40 days between Ash Wednesday (today) and Easter Sunday. Well, it takes longer than 40 days for Lent, WHY?
The winner of this question will receive an assortment of Large Flower Brads! These are perfect for spring and Easter projects!
If you post the answer in the comment section and don't see it right away, don't worry! I feel it is my responsibility to make sure my blog readers and loyal customers are not subject to some aspects of the world-wide-web I wouldn't want my children exposed. Once I view your comment I will post it, I promise!
Today the girls and I are off to Massachusetts for dentist appointments and then to receive our ashes at the parish Aislinn was baptised in, so that will be very special for us. As much as we love Maine, we miss Our Lady of Grace in Everett/Chelsea! Ellen is getting her catalg while I'm there, too...if you would like a FREE copy of the Spring Summer Catalog, post a comment with your name, phone number and a good time for me to call you!
Happy Stampin' and a Blessed Ash Wednesday
~Tara
ps -what are you giving up? Leave that on a comment, too for a chance at the blog candy!
Happy Fat Tuesday everyone! I had a whole bunch of bacon to start my day-lol!
I thought I would add a feature to my blog that readers can expect me to fall off the bandwagon with, I mean follow through with each week - Tuesday Technique Tutorial.
This week's technique is called Scratch and Sniff - yes those lucky souls who receive handstamped cards from you can get a gift that not only looks beautiful but smells yummy, too!
You need:
A bold-style stamp set . VersaMark® pad . A sugar-free drink mix . Clear Stampin' Emboss® powder . Heat tool
1. Mix 1 part sugar-free drink mix to 1-1/2 parts Clear embossing powder (see Figure 1). For example, you would mix 1 teaspoon drink mix with 1-1/2 teaspoons of Clear embossing powder. You'll have a scented embossing powder!
2. Stamp your bold image in VersaMark ink on your card stock. 3. Heat Emboss the image using the scented embossing powder, just as you would with any other heat-embossing project (see Figure 2).
Note: For the scent, select a sugar-free flavored creamer or sugar-free drink mix for your project, such as sugar-free Kool-Aid® or cocoa. Why must the mix be sugar free? Because heated sugar crisps and browns. When choosing the right drink mix, consider both color and scent. Colored embossing powder will work for scratch-and-sniff images; however, unless you use embossing powder that is the same color as your drink mix, the colors may blend strangely.

People & Portrait Photography Quick Tips from NationalGeographic.com
If you use objects other than your main subject in the foreground, be careful of placement. You don't want to obscure or detract from your subject.
Every time you hold your camera to your eye, look for leading lines, foreground elements, frames—anything you can use to lend dynamism to your image. Photographs are two dimensional but it helps if they look and feel three dimensional.
Don't just stand there—sit, squat, lie down. The angle from which you make a photograph can make a dramatic difference.
When using an electronic flash indoors, move your subject away from walls to prevent harsh shadows.
A piece of very light orange gel over the face of your electronic flash can warm up the light and give it a more pleasing cast.
When you first arrive at a new location, make note of any features that strike you. Try to find ways to incorporate them into your composition.
Be careful if you are using a wide-angle lens to photograph a group. The people at the edges may get distorted.
If kids want to look through the camera, let them. They will be more relaxed and cooperative. Just watch out for dirty fingers on the lens.
Anticipate kids' behavior. If they are playing tag, set up near the base, compose your image, and wait for them to come running in.
Happy Stampin and Scrappin!

School vacation is almost over....can you hear me crying from where you are??
So here are some pages I did while at the Royal Family Kids Camp Crop, using the Birds and Blooms die, which can be used with the Big Kick and Cuttlebug as well as the Big Shot! The inspiration for the colors came from the Bella Rose Designer Series Paper, using Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette to accent the page. I used Kraft cardstock for the base of the pages to go as neutral as possible and let the photos stand out, which I think they did!
You can recreate these pages yourself at the Saco Scrappin and Stampin Getaway March 20-22nd, make sure you register today!
Now - for the Blog Candy! Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street were named for the Police Man and Taxi Driver from the classic movie It's A Wonderful Life!
